A welcome destination off of Caroline Street, Flatbread Social brings about the first “social” themed bar in Saratoga. This family friendly establishment, with its large open layout, invites groups big and small to gather and find shareable Neapolitan inspired food, yummy cocktails (including non-alcoholic), and a fun craft beer selection.
Flatbread Social nailed it with an open floor plan and a humongous bar that makes you feel right at home. The colorful energy of the space and large glass doors across the front that open wide during the summer make for a great spot to sit and enjoy the breeze. And in the colder months, these windows provide a beautiful view of the outside when the snow falls.
Bright orange and blue are splashed throughout the restaurant on chairs, tables, and employee uniforms, adding to the lively atmosphere. A pair of beautiful wood-fired pizza ovens anchor the space, and while the ovens are hard at work, guests can play a quick game of shuffleboard to pass the time.
Flatbread Social is an ideal spot to gather early on and start your night. The bar offers ample space to enjoy a libation, a formidable spirit selection, and the friendly bartenders are eager to recommend some of their favorites. Check out the craft beer selection – as owners of this establishment also run Flatbread’s sister restaurant, Henry Street Taproom, and, well, they know their beer. Not to be overlooked is their cocktail selection, including non-alcoholic beverages such as the Agua Fresca or their Draft Kombucha, the latter of which is featured in their tequila based Komb Before The Storm, made with honey and lime.
The menu here features traditional pizza shop fare with a twist, and it’s worth mentioning that if they can cook something in the wood-fired oven, they will. The wood-fired wings, for example, are fantastic! We’re partial to the Garlic Honey Habanero.
But let’s talk pizza! Some front-runners are the Pepperoni in Her Eyes (pepperoni, sliced red onions, fire roasted tomato sauce, mozzarella) and the Prosciutto I’m in Love (prosciutto de parma, fresh herbed ricotta, caramelized onions, chili oil, fresh cracked pepper, sunny side egg). One option that might catch you off guard, but is absolutely worth checking out is Sonja’s Pizza (Caramelized Onions, Bacon, Pickles, Fire Roasted Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella, Sriracha Aioli, Sunny Side Egg). Of course you can always build your own pie too. And don’t worry, for any of you who can’t eat gluten, they do gluten free crust in a separate oven.
While it is likely that guests will visit first for the pizza, the starters and salads deliver as well. Take, for example, the trio of meatballs doused in their “Sunday Sauce” covered in gooey mozzarella and served with a hunk of bread. Yes please! The Hummus Plate is a great (and healthier) way to get started too. There are currently 9 different salads on the menu. We’ve been loving the Squash Salad (roasted butternut squash, sliced red onion, arcadian greens, toasted pecans, whipped sage goat cheese, and warm shallot vinaigrette).
Looking for some mid-week fun? It’s Happy Hour at Flatbread every Tuesday through Friday from 3-6 pm, featuring $5 drafts, starters, and select wines and cocktails (Happy Hour on Tuesday lasts all night). On Wednesdays from 6-8 they host shuffleboard tournaments, with beer special for the teams and a gift card for the winners. Wednesday is also Dollar Wing Wednesday. And not to forget the weekends, guests often enjoy live music throughout the evening so be sure to follow them on social media for updates.
