OK, let’s have a quick conversation about beer. There are a number of good places to grab a beer in Saratoga Springs. But when it comes to separating the good from the best, we need to give a big shout out to Henry Street Taproom, because these guys are really doing it. And that goes for the food and atmosphere as well. It’s easy to see why this place is almost always buzzing.
All the elements of a classic taproom align for the proper ode to hops; a warm wooden space with mason jar lighting, exposed brick walls, a shuffleboard table, and two wood-burning fireplaces. Henry Street Taproom’s friendly and knowledgeable staff can help you navigate the expansive and ever-changing beer list while you settle in to scope a menu full of comfort food favorites and daily changing chalkboard specials.
Prepare to have your beer-brain blown. Since they opened in 2012, Henry Street Taproom has become Saratoga’s go-to spot for craft beer. Sixteen rotating taps and an epic can and bottle list feature the best craft beer and cider from around the globe. They’ve pretty much mastered the Goldilocks formula -‒ every beer drinker can find something that is just right here.
And non-beer drinkers are not left high-and-dry. Unlike most beer-centric establishments, HST puts just as much thought into their whiskey and wine lists as they do the brews, offering arguably one of the best brown liquor catalogs in the region.
If you come just for the food, no one would judge you because the menu is definitely strong enough to stand on its own. Feast on favorites including the Scotch egg, Mac and Cheese Springs Rolls, or the Taproom Burgerwith a double-patty, New York cheddar, bacon, caramelized onions, pickles, and their own special sauce. Or stick to the chalkboard specials that feature uniquely crafted farm toast, market salads, grilled cheese, pizza, and tacos, daily. Did I mention the oysters? They switch up daily as well but Monday is the day to down these briny suckers when they’re only a dollar each.
While Henry Street Taproom is high on our list for drinks or dinner any night of the week, we’d be doing you a serious disservice if we didn’t mention their Sunday brunch. One of our favorite brunch spots in town! Choose from their regular menu or hit up one of their brunch specials like Peaches and Cream French Toast or Eggs Benny with biscuits and crab. Pair with a tasty Bloody Mary or, of course, a brunchy brew will help you forget Monday morning is fast approaching. Better order another round!
