When you walk into Palette Cafe you’re welcomed by a mosaic tile floor that reads, “You look thirsty”. This message hits us smack-dab in the heart, as we are indeed.
This female owned and fem forward cafe located right on Broadway has quickly found its place in the Saratoga community. Opened in 2019, Palette has been dedicated to working women everywhere, and serves up delicious, locally sourced Apt3 Bakery pastries, as well as freshly roasted Kru Coffee. Bring your laptop, books, study materials, work files, or just yourself, and settle in for the day, or maybe meet your pals and get cozy.
From the moment you walk into Palette, your creative senses awaken, and this hip and chic cafe instantly feels like home. The baristas never fail to greet you with a smile and the front case filled with sweet treats is guaranteed to make you do a double take.
After ordering, head into the main lounging (or working) area just to the left of the counter and cozy up at a table or chair. We adore the thoughtfully curated local artwork displayed on the walls alongside a neon sign that reads ‘La vie en rose’, (love you, Edith Piaf). Venture further and you’ll discover the back room and the coolest little built-in phone booth (room) you’ve ever seen. And should you find yourself strolling along on a sunny day you will definitely want to find a spot on the front patio.
Of course, Palette is a cafe first, and provides guests with the traditional cafe beverage selection. If the routine caramel latte isn’t hitting the spot, however, don’t be afraid to venture outside your comfort zone with the atypical – think a tumeric or beetroot flavored latte. Or, treat yourself to a FroCo, Palette’s version of a frappe.
On to the cocktails (and mocktails, too!), which endeavor to honor and reflect upon the successes of women everywhere. To name a few, Palette offers up the Coco (Champagne, gin, lemon), Maude (Vodka, cold brew, + cream), or the standout Frida (make your own margarita). If you’re looking for a mocktail, try the Ruby (hibiscus tea and a smidge of sass). Whichever beverage you choose, you won’t be disappointed!
The pastry case does just the trick for an empty stomach, filled with a variety of goodies such as fresh biscuits, muffins (gluten free available), granola bars, pies, doughnuts and more. If you’re looking for a savory option you may delight your taste buds with one of several sandwiches, like the Chickpea Salad Sandwich. If a smaller snack is preferred, the selections are numerous- daily soup, hummus and naan, salad, a cheese or charcuterie board, empanada, or spanakopita, just to name a few. Fancy a dessert? Choose between Molten Chocolate Lava, Junior’s Cheesecake, pie, pop tarts and more.
Be sure to keep an eye out for Palette’s events calendar, which includes upcoming book clubs, fairy parties, true crime meetups, and inspirational seminars/talks. If interested in playing host for your own event, look no further, and contact them for the 411. Palette has also opened their upstairs, which serves as a diverse coworking space.
